Professional Statement
Having a strong background in Internal Medicine, my aim is to treat the entire patient and improve quality of life, instead of just focusing on the kidney-related issues at hand. My book chapter on "Integrative Care in patients with Kidney Disease" is a summary of my holistic approach to patients with chronic kidney disease and can be accessed here https://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007/978-3-030-30892-6_18.
I had the privilege of training at Texas Medical Center with exposure to multiple hospitals including VA hospital, Ben Taub Hospital, St.Luke's Hospital and Methodist Hospital. This has provided me with the skills to cater to patients with diverse backgrounds and myriad pathologies. I have a strong clinical interest in liver patients with kidney disease and work in close collaboration with hepatologists and surgeons in the department of abdominal transplantation. I have been actively involved in evaluating and treating patients with advanced kidney disease and a passion for trying to minimize their dialysis duration by helping them get a kidney transplant as soon as possible. I am also strong advocate for living-donor kidney transplantation and currently involved in research studying discrepancies in candidate who are accepted for kidney donation.
Lastly, my goal is to try to help patients with kidney disease live a normal and healthy life while maintaining their employment and continuing to contribute to their family and society as a whole.
