Professional Statement
Dr. Ravi Ghanta is Professor and Associate Chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï of Medicine (BCM). He also serves as Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Ben Taub General Hospital. A native of Louisiana, he received his MD from Harvard Medical School and completed his general and thoracic surgery training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
At BCM, Dr. Ghanta leads a high-volume clinical practice encompassing the full spectrum of cardiothoracic surgery, with particular expertise in ischemic heart disease, valvular heart disease, adult congenital heart disease, and complex aortic surgery. He is deeply committed to surgical education, serving as Program Director for the BCM Thoracic Surgery Residency and Fellowship Programs, and takes pride in training the next generation of cardiac surgeons to operate with skill and precision.
Dr. Ghanta is a surgeon-scientist and Principal Investigator of the Laboratory for Translational Therapeutics, as well as Director of the ATLAS AI Surgery Program. He has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed manuscripts and currently serves as lead PI on three NIH R01 grants. His research focuses on developing and translating novel technologies from bench to bedside to advance the field of surgery and improve patient outcomes.
